Auto roles in 30 seconds

What it does in your server, shown in Discord. With captions in five languages, and every scene also written out as text.

Each step describes the picture first, then quotes what the voice says.

  1. Faded in the background: a Night Owls channel list where #general, #game-nights, #events and #media are locked, and Alex’s profile showing “No roles”. “No idea where to go.” is purple.

“New member. No roles. No idea where to go.”

  2. A purple circle opens from the centre. Under the ZombyIO logo, “Auto roles” appears in large white letters, and the green zombie mascot in a headset springs up holding out a name badge on a lanyard.

    “Meet ZombyIO Auto roles.”

  3. A chip reads “Alex joined”. Alex’s profile gets the roles Member and Newcomer, the locked channels below open one by one, and a second chip reads “Straight away”.

“Hand out roles the moment someone joins.”

  4. Steps “Joins the server”, “Accepts the rules”, then the roles. A rules screen is ticked and submitted. Under “New members”, Alex has both roles; free_nitro_4521, gift.claims.bot and promo_x_88 have none, marked red.

“Or wait until they accept the rules, the strongest defence against raid bots.”

  5. A settings card lists “Auto roles”: Member and Newcomer, and “Roles for bots”: Bots. The profile of MusicBot, marked APP, receives the Bots role.

“Bots you invite get roles of their own.”

  6. The #mod-log shows “Possible raid”: “18 accounts joined within 12 seconds. Raid defence is active.” Leo joins; the roles Member and Newcomer wait with hourglasses as a 10:00 minute timer counts down.

“During a raid, the roles wait ten minutes.”

  7. “Free.” in large purple letters, then “Three auto roles on every server, 15 with Premium.” Chips: “3 auto roles”, “After the rules screen”, “Roles for bots”.

    “Free with three roles.”

  8. End card: the ZombyIO logo, a green zombie face in a blue headset, above “ZombyIO” and “Run your Discord server without the busywork.” A white button reads “zomby.io”, with “Free for every server” below.

“ZombyIO. Add it free at zomby.io.”

  2. Open Auto roles in the dashboard

Your server list, then Auto roles: two clicks. Or press Ctrl K anywhere in the dashboard and type the name.

  3. Set it up and save

Tick the roles under “Pick the roles” and switch auto role on. Under “When to grant them”, choose straight away, after the rules screen or after a short wait.

What is free, and what Premium adds

Premium costs €6 a month per server and is shared by every admin of that server. It raises limits, it does not unlock the feature.

Questions about Auto roles

Is Auto roles free?

Yes. Auto roles works on the free plan, which is not a trial and does not expire. Premium costs €6 a month per server and only raises the limits in the table above.

Do bots I invite get the auto roles too?

Not the member roles. Bots have a list of their own: under “Roles for bots” you pick what a bot you invite gets, straight away.

What happens when someone leaves and joins again?

They get the auto roles again, because the roles are handed out on every join. ZombyIO does not give back other roles they held before they left.
